Speech Therapy at Progress Therapy Center

Empowering Communication. Building Confidence. Preparing for the Classroom.

At Progress Therapy Center, our Speech Therapy Program is designed to help children become confident, effective communicators—both in and out of the classroom. Our services support children with a wide range of speech and language challenges, including:

  • Articulation and phonological disorders
  • Expressive and receptive language delays
  • Fluency and stuttering
  • Social communication difficulties
  • Language-based learning differences
  • Oral motor and feeding issues

Our approach is rooted in evidence-based practices and tailored to each child’s unique needs and developmental level.

“School Ready” Speech Services

We are proud to offer a “School Ready” Speech Therapy Program, led by experienced, school-based speech-language pathologists who understand the demands of today’s educational settings. Because our therapists have firsthand classroom experience, they are uniquely equipped to target the communication skills that impact academic success—such as following directions, participating in classroom discussions, and understanding curriculum vocabulary.

Children attend therapy sessions after school, ensuring a seamless extension of their learning day without disrupting their school schedule. Our goal is to help children thrive

How Do I Know If My Child Needs Speech Therapy?

Every child develops at their own pace, but there are certain signs that may indicate your child could benefit from speech and language support. If you notice any of the following, it may be time to consider a speech therapy evaluation:

For Toddlers and Preschoolers (Ages 1–5):

  • Limited or no babbling, gestures, or early words by 12–18 months
  • Difficulty putting words together into short phrases or sentences
  • Trouble understanding or following simple directions
  • Speech that is hard to understand, even to familiar listeners
  • Frustration when trying to communicate
  • Not using age-appropriate vocabulary or grammar
  • Lack of interest in interacting with others or limited eye contact

For School-Aged Children:

  • Ongoing difficulty pronouncing certain sounds (like R, L, S, TH)
  • Trouble retelling stories or answering questions clearly
  • Difficulty understanding spoken or written language
  • Poor classroom participation due to communication challenges
  • Challenges with social interactions or using language appropriately with peers
  • Stuttering or getting “stuck” on words
  • Trouble with memory, sequencing, or following multi-step directions
